Realism is safe
for me.
Most of my work is
done in the realm
of
projecting that which I can see.
I had been encouraged to paint
free style. This painting
is an exercise at freely allowing
my mind and soul to direct the formation of the
images.
Considering that
women are likened to roses,
this painting represents the love of a
mother for her dauthers
(myself, the largest fullest bloomed
rose,
the other
two being my budding daughters).
I painted "Lotus
Beauty" and "Pink Lotus"
because I had two daughters building homes
at
the same
time and I wanted to give them something
from my heart and hand for
their new homes.
The
first daughter that saw them claimed both adamantly!
A rose is a rose
is a rose... This rose was
approximately eight inches in diameter
and three inches
thick.
One of the largest roses I have ever grown!
The fragrance
was exquisite...
I could not resist documenting the beauty!
I have
always
loved the organic shapes of all blossoms!
Amazing is the rich look and feel of the
cotton blossoms
that I experienced as a child in south Georgia
working
the cotton fields as a child with my family.
I appreciate the bloom of a hibiscus
and other flowers
so much I desire to paint at least one
rendition of all kinds!
As a little girl
and the happy times of fantasy
in my childhood world...
candyland, willie wonka, and wizard of oz were large influences
on the growth of my imagination. This is my
tribute. It can be yours, too!
Roses
are red. Violets are blue.
That's what I read.
What shall we do? These are
roses.
A fact that's true. What is...
the hue? Artist's
note:
I read Webster's definintion of
hue as follows...
The characteristic of color that allows it to be
categorized on a scale running from
red through yellow, green, and blue
to violet.
I wanted to showcase different exotic
flowers and colors.
I enjoy using vibrant colors in creating my works. With
this
painting, I simply took some of my favorite
colors and started
painting.
Even I wasn't sure what would come of it!
